Lucky Numbers
For the Classic's 12th anniversary in 2010, Krieghoff is once again endorsing the Krieghoff Lucky Numbers Event. This was a great hit in 2008 and 2009 and we are staging the third Lucky Numbers event at the 2010 Krieghoff Classic - the Krieghoff Lucky Numbers DTL 2010.
The shoot format will be 100 DTL shot to CPSA rules, but with an extra competition tacked on at the end. As soon as the last shots have been fired in the main 100-birder, two random numbers, ranging from 0-9, will be drawn by the shoot organisers - and everyone whose score (ex-300) ends in either of these two numbers will immediately shoot-off against each other. If your score's eligible, all you do is go straight to one of the 10-target shoot-off traps to begin the battle with everyone else whose score ends in one of those two numbers. These shoot-offs will find a winner from each class (AA, A, B and C) - and then these four become the final squad to determine the Lucky Numbers champion.
Make it into this final squad, and you're guaranteed a cash prize.
 Wild Card
Of course, four isn't enough to complete a full DTL squad, so the fifth place is taken from a wildcard entry drawn from Friday's entire shoot entry. So even if you've not made the lucky numbers shoot-off, there's still a chance you'll be in the head-to-head shooting for the top prize - just make sure you stay at the ground until the end to be eligible!
The final five will shoot-off over a predetermined number of targets. Here's how it works in practice:
Let's say three and seven are drawn as the lucky numbers. All shooters whose score ends in either three or seven will be eligible for the shoot-off - so someone shooting 257 has exactly the same chance as someone shooting 297. This means quite a lot of shooters, so there won't be time to squad all those qualifying. Instead, if your score ends in one of the lucky numbers, then you'll need to get your gun and shells fast, and rush to one of the shoot-off traps. The ground staff will take your name and CPSA association number, and check you have a qualifying score on the master sheet.
Ensure you take enough cartridges with you, as we won't be able to wait (and anyone unavailable to shoot-off for any reason is out of the running). To take part, you'll need to be on the ground at the end of Friday's shoot for the lucky number draw. Please remember that there will be a final draw for the fifth squad member after the shoot-offs are completed - the only people not included in the wild card draw are the four who have already won their way through to the final. This event will add a new dimension to the Krieghoff 500 - and will introduce an element of fun while at the same time giving everyone a serious chance of winning. See Lucky Numbers 2009 Results >>>
